West Virginia DB Aubrey Burks taken from field on stretcher
Mountaineer standout helped off with lower-body injury
West Virginia cornerback Aubrey Burks was taken off the field on a stretcher Saturday with a lower-body injury in the third quarter against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Burks was injured while covering a kickoff. He was down on the field for several minutes while being attended to by medical personnel before being taken off the field on a stretcher.
The severity of Burks' injury is not yet known.
Burks is a key member of the Mountaineer defense
The 6-foot, 200-pound Burks is a senior from Richmond, Virginia. He has started all four games for West Virginia this season and has recorded 13 tackles and two interceptions.
Burks was named to the All-Big 12 second team last season after recording 53 tackles, six interceptions and two forced fumbles.
The Mountaineers are now 2-2 on the season. They will host Baylor next Saturday in Morgantown, West Virginia.
