Alexander Victor Schauffele was born on October 25, 1993, in San Diego, California. The son of a German father and Taiwanese mother, Schauffele began playing golf at a young age and quickly showed a natural aptitude for the sport.

Schauffele turned professional in 2015 and joined the PGA Tour in 2016. He quickly made a name for himself with strong performances, including a T-5 finish at the 2016 U.S. Open.
