Cuellar's Bill to Honor Fallen Servicemembers
Laredo Post Office to Bear Names of Heroes
Representative Cuellar's Bill Heads to President's Desk
WASHINGTON - A bill sponsored by Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX) to rename the Laredo Post Office after two fallen servicemembers is on its way to the President's desk.
The bill, H.R. 497, would rename the post office the "Sergeant First Class Robert Ramirez and Corporal Jose Angel Leal Post Office."
SFC Ramirez and Cpl. Leal were both killed in action in Iraq in 2005. Ramirez was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, and Leal was a member of the 1st Marine Division.
"SFC Ramirez and Cpl. Leal were two brave young men who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country," Cuellar said. "It is only fitting that we honor their memory by renaming this post office after them."
The bill was passed by the House of Representatives in May and by the Senate in July. It now awaits President Joe Biden's signature to become law.
