Vancouver Canucks Reassign Silovs to AHL's Abbotsford Canucks

NHL Team Makes Roster Adjustments Ahead of Upcoming Season

Arturs Silovs Demoted to Minor League Affiliate

The Vancouver Canucks have made roster adjustments by sending young goaltender Arturs Silovs down to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. The move was announced on Wednesday and comes after Silovs made his NHL debut in the preseason.

Silovs, 21, joined the Canucks organization in 2021 and has spent the past two seasons playing primarily for the AHL affiliate. He impressed in the preseason, posting a 2.11 goals-against average and .933 save percentage. However, with veteran goaltenders Thatcher Demko and Spencer Martin firmly entrenched in the NHL roster, Silovs's opportunity for playing time was limited.

The assignment to the AHL will allow Silovs to continue his development and gain more game experience. The Abbotsford Canucks are expected to compete for a playoff spot this season, and Silovs will have the opportunity to be a key contributor.
